Kelsey and Andy wanted an intimate, private Ceremony on the Oregon Coast with just 20 of their closest friends and family members. As Colorado natives, they were drawn to the sand, the wind, the moody elements that the unpredictable weather patterns of the Oregon Coast offer. We landed on a mid-May date for their wedding, and I gave my warnings that: WE MIGHT GET RAIN! I loved that Kelsey + Andy’s response was “that would just make it more romantic!”. They were fully committed to enjoying the moody, dramatic, Oregon coastline in whatever elements it presented to them for their day.
This set us up for success on expectations and we began planning an intimate Ceremony on the sand, followed by a celebratory pop of champagne, and the pouring of a champagne tower. They then enjoyed toasts from a few of their select family members encircled by their guests. Weather was exactly as ordered: cloudy, light winds, moody and dramatic and it created such a serene, romantic, and intimate backdrop to their Ceremony-in-the-sand.
The tablescape design was inspired by lush, feminine, romantic florals meeting the more earthy, paired-back details of the natural coastal elements. The color palette was a restrained representation of ivory, blush, and light pops of yellow, with custom hand-lettered shell placecards. Rain rolled in a bit later in the evening so dinner and cake cutting moved inside which created such a cozy at-home feeling. The rain didn’t stop Kelsey + Andy from running into the ocean at sunset or dancing their first dance bare feet, out on the wet deck, overlooking the storm-soaked sand and waves.
